In accordance with Rwanda's import procedures, members are responsible for completing customs clearance and paying any applicable government duties, taxes, customs clearing charges and customs warehousing fees before their shipment is released.

Important Information
Customs duties and taxes are determined by Rwanda authorities and are not part of the fees paid to Aquantuo.
Billing is based on the higher of the actual or volumetric weight. Please refer to the volumetric weight calculator for price estimates.
Storage charges are applied after the complimentary period. Please refer to our Storage policy for details on rates.
Insurance of 3% is required for all items valued at $200 or more.
Full payment is required before shipment is dispatched from origin.
Unless specified otherwise, shipments are consolidated on scheduled departures.

The customs clearance process depends on how your shipment arrives in Rwanda.
Business or Individual Air Shipments Routed Through MAGERWA (Gikondo) - Any shipment size
For all manner of weights coming via air, arriving through MAGERWA (Gikondo), Aquantuo coordinates the shipment into Rwanda, provides all documentation and collection instructions, and offers local assistance where needed. The shipping charges paid to Aquantuo cover transportation from the origin country to MAGERWA only and do not include any applicable government duties, taxes, customs clearance charges, or other fees payable upon arrival.
Business - Air Shipments (100 kg and above, or upon request)
For air shipments sent directly to Kigali International Airport, Aquantuo will provide your Air Waybill (AWB) and all required shipping documents, introduce you to a trusted local customs clearing agent, and guide you through the customs clearance process until your shipment is released. Any applicable government duties, taxes, customs clearance charges, or warehousing fees remain the responsibility of the member.
Business - Air Shipments (Below 100 kg)
Although we recommend shipping 100 kg or more to maximize cost efficiency, we also support individual and consolidated shipments below 100 kg. The process remains the same: Aquantuo provides the AWB and shipping documentation, connects you with a local customs clearing agent, and remains available to guide you through customs clearance until your shipment is released. Government duties, taxes, customs clearance charges, and warehousing fees remain the responsibility of the member.
Sea Freight Shipments
For sea freight from all supported origin countries, Aquantuo coordinates transportation into Rwanda and delivers shipments to the designated inland cargo facility, including MAGERWA, DP World, or the applicable Free Zone facility depending on the routing. We provide all required shipping documentation and guide members through the customs clearance and collection process. If needed, a customs clearing agent would be provided for further assistance. Members are responsible for paying all applicable government duties, taxes, customs clearance charges, warehousing fees, and other regulatory charges before shipment release.
